Welcome to Doha, Qatar’s ultramodern capital. Located in the east of the country, Doha is home to approximately 646,000 people from all over the world. It’s the country’s fastest-growing city and its business centre. 

From a pearling and fishing village of great importance, with around 350 pearling boats at the beginning of the 20th century, Doha underwent a complete economic transformation and became a modern and prosperous city.

Doha’s tourism sector has evolved rapidly over the years, with key attractions and several museums of great importance gaining the spotlight.

Known for its exemplary hospitality, exquisite cuisine, unique shopping experiences and traditional souqs, along with a plethora of adventures and activities, Doha is growing rapidly, and offers something for all travellers.

Geography

Qatar is a peninsula with a 563-km coastline jutting along the western coast of the Arabian Gulf. The country shares an 87 km land border with Saudi Arabia to the south. Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, and Iran are nearby.

The country is characterised by its flat and arid desertscape. Qatar has a desert climate with year-round sunshine, hot summers and mild winters. Average monthly temperatures range from 17°C in January to 36°C in July, sometimes reaching highs of 40°C+ during the summer months. Average annual rainfall is 70 mm per year, and falls in brief showers between October and March, rarely hindering outdoor activities.
